i cant say this is a good list of movies but they were filmed near me:

Parts of Shutter Island were shot in my home town. the lake house at the end of the film (no spoiler here) is in borderland state park in Easton Ma. it's only a dirt floor with a stone frame around it and no windows or doors, just open areas. i had my first ,ahem, experience with a girl there so that was fun. Grown Ups was filmed partially on cape cod and at Water Wiz. the water park i grew up going to. that big slide they are all affraid of scared the hell out of me as a child. and some awful adam sandler movie was filmed here on cape. they built a scale replica of fenway park in my GF's former middle school. **spoiler alert** the scale model of fenway was the best part of the movie.

Lots of movies and TV filmed here in Georgia. Two of my favorites filmed in my "backyard" are Zombieland (really funny if you haven't seen it) - and currently "The Walking Dead" - one of the best series I've ever watched.

I am also a huge fan of The Walking Dead, and I'd second the suggestion of Zombieland - it is ridiculous and silly but a lot of fun, and well it has Emma Stone.

I live in Hollywood North so... basically everything filmed when the Canadian $ is/was low was filmed here. :P

Tbey made a (terrible) movie about the city where I live: "Road To Wellville" It was a period piece about John Harvey Kellogg and his sanitarium in Battle Creek, Michigan. This place was big in the whole "healthy living" movement around the turn of the century..the cereal companies got their start here as part of the health food craze. But all the location shooting was done somewhere in upstate NY, as the original Kellogg Sanitarium is long gone (a replacement was built in the teens, then turned into an Army hospital in WWII, and is now a federal office complex.)

Right now, the guy behind "Breaking Bad" has a new cop drama in the works called "Battle Creek." Kal "Kumar" Pen has been cast as one of the leads, and was in town a couple weeks ago shadowing our police dept. The series is supposed to start filming this week, and air on CBS this fall. I haven't heard if there are any plans for actual location shooting here in town, but I rather doubt it. I figure they'll probably send a crew to spend a few days getting footage of exteriors and local landmarks, and do all stuff with the actors on soundstages and some city on the west coast.

I was around 14 years old when I used to walk around the set of Apocalypse Now, which was shot in Pagsanjan, Philippines. I remember tripping over the cables running around the back set where the lights are.

Me, Myself and Irene was shot all around where I live now. But best, when I was in the 6th grade was that I was living in Halawa Heights overlooking Pearl Harbor when Tora Tora Tora was filmed. I had ersatz Zeros, Kates and Vals flying a couple of hundred feet above my house for weeks!

Not very many movies are filmed here in Nebraska, Hollywood actors are afraid that the Children of the Corn will come after them and hack'em up....... ;)

Most of director Alexander Paine's movies are filmed in Nebraska, including "Nebraska".

in Iowa:

"Field of Dreams" (near Dyersville)

"Iowa" (Matt Farnsworth's dystopian vision of the meth trade) (in Centerville, about 50 miles west of me)

"Cedar Rapids" (recent comedy, exterior shots in Cedar Rapids)

"Miles From Home" with Richard Gere (near Cedar Rapids)

"Bridges of Madison County" (Winterset)

"The Straight Story" (David Lynch film, shot near Clairmont in NE Iowa)

Interestingly enough, a number of films supposedly SET in Iowa were filmed elsewhere:

"Sleeping with the Enemy" which is set partly in Cedar Falls, was shot in North Carolina

"What's Eating Gilbert Grape" was shot in Texas

"Terns of Endearment" part of which is supposed to take place in Des Moines

"A Thousand Acres" with Jason Robards

cheers

Here where I am near Lemoore, we had 2.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles. (the winter driving, spin out, car fire scene. In 1 shot you can actually see the street lights of the Navy housing area for NAS Lemoore)

Casino (where Joe Pesci is killed and buried in the cornfield)

A recent discussion about the movies that were shot where you live got me to thinking. What are some movies that were shot where you live? I live in Wetumpka. We had two movies filmed on location here. "The Grass Harp" and "Big Fish". Both low budget films, but good. Big fish had Ewen McGregor and some really tall dude. I was there when they were filming the car scene on the bridge. I live not even a minute away from where they were shooting. So, what are some of the movies or even TV shows that were filmed where you live?

RYAN.

Funny enough I went over that bridge yesterday to go to the DQ and I spent the afternoon at the Wetumpka airport.

Garth Brooks shot a video at a old bridge down the road from me. I got to sit on the banks of the river and watch hime film it.

"Wish You Well" (based on the David Baldacci novel) was filmed entirely in Giles County, Virginia where I live (some scenes about 2 miles from my house). They keep showing it at festivals all over the place, but nobody around here has seen it yet.

Lots of movies have been made all over Oklahoma, the only one "near" me is still in post production. It's called "Rudderless" and it was filmed on the lake in my backyard.

The closed the lake down to get the quiet they wanted during filmings. I had to stop RC flying and I couldn't go kayaking for 4 days in the middle of one week.

The movie pissed off a LOT of Oklahomans. That lake was down to 40% full due to the prolonged drougts out here. They litterally emptied two other lakes to fill Hefner so they could film. Then they immediately put full year watering bans in effect.

I'm guessing Derby...

Vince

Yeah, not bad but no cigar! Bit further South, on a line between Worcester and the Norfolk coastline!

(Don't wanna get the locals riled, y'see -specially as I can't play the banjo...)

Not much around my way that would be well known globally apart from a little known trilogy called Lord Of The Rings :)

Scenes were shot all around NZ, but about half a dozen locations are local to me (as well as the central studio base), many of them obvious during filming. A requirement for filming access was that no trace be left behind though, so don't go there expecting to see too much. Some of the locations are well marked and signposted though.

Apart from that the New York street set for King Kong was constructed about a mile away from where I'm typing this.

Your post just reminded me I used to work in Arizona near the area they filmed many of the scenes for the 1950s movie Oklahoma :tumble:

Yep, they filmed Oklahoma in Arizona, that makes sense.
