Maybe my understanding of the word "offline" is different from yours. Online discussion is that which occurs using computer media of some sort. Most often forums, social sites like Facebook, e-mail, etc (back in my early days BBS systems). Offline is discussion that occurs without the use of computerized media, such as face to face, telephone, snail mail. At least that is the usage I grew up with as the whole computer thing got started back before the World Wide Web existed. If I was online, I was on the computer. If I was offline, I wasn't on the computer.

Maybe the usage has changed and I'm just not "up" on the new usage. If so, please educate me as I am just an old fart that cut his teeth on Unix and Usenet.

Talk on the street, or at the hobby shop for one. People still talk with each other around here.

Glt

You don’t say!?!?!?

People actually speak to each other with real voice and face to face in person or on traditional analogue telephones??? So primitive!    Not just Smile’s and Like’s.

Well, I am one of those old perverts.

Best regards

Gabor

Well, it should be. They were the first  to support this whole thing, and there were only 46 of them according to the page. Pretty crappy to make them wait, if you ask me.

Maybe we´ll get invitations to a VIP tour of the factory to pick them up in person. Since we've been waiting so faithfully and patiently. 😄

One of those 46 stepped up recently elsewhere, pointing the fact he's still got no kit and no news,

despite having contributed to a preorder to help a company, whereas some what he called "internet influencers" already got a kit for free.

Eventhough his claim and anger were justifiable, instead of having info or clarification by the manufacturer, he rapidly became a target of personnal attacks (of the same kind we saw here).

Actually, those of us that preordered and paid were first. The Indiegogo thing came well after the initial preorders. Just sayin'. But tbh, I don't care if I get my kits first second or last, as long as I get my kits.

Shion,... it's been so long, still so accurate from what I can read ...!
But in the fog everyone, me included, can go astray ....

Yeah, I think there were other ways to preorder before the indiegogo-thing. But afaik I have also paid for the kit when I preordered it through Indiegogo. Being two years ago now. I wouldn’t mind a little assurance that the kit will be sent anyway.

Not disputing that you should get what you paid for, just trying to be sure the record is correct.

And now, we upload pictures here directly?

That could be helpful for me to upload F-104 designing pictures here.

Just to help you guys a bit to reach 300 pages.

To be honest even though that sounds like a good option on ARC the size restrictions suck. You have to resize photos to fit the parameters. Got sick of doing that to every picture I was trying to post. I understand why though.

Probably much easier to stick with off site hosting.

Me too.
It is so funny, I have paid more for shipping than for the kit.

What's a "hobby shop"?  Oh wait, I remember now. I think we used to have some around here long ago. Its been so long now, I can hardly remember.

Seriously though, glad to hear so many in the hobby are getting together and actually talking to each other. Strange that it took me by surprise. What comes from being a hermit for so long. :hmmm:

I'm not angry. I am very disappointed.

In August when I saw AMK's Facebook post showing the kits were boxed and being shipped to distributors I contacted them via Indiegogo and inquired about my kit. I received a reply that the kit would be shipped and I would get it by the end of August. Tick tock . . . .

August came and went.

Then social media sites started popping up showing the kit under construction. WOW!! They even gave it to a cute girl to build.

Looks nice. (Girl and kit.)

Still no kit on my end.

I've been involved with Kickstarter Campaigns. Early adopters and investors are treated with respect because they took a risk, put up their money, and invested in your promise. Crowdfunding also allows a company to build a network of friends and loyal customers.

In mid September I again contacted AMK and told them about my concerns. I also asked for a refund. Why not? AMK decided how they would value me as a customer. I never received a reply.

I contacted them again when I noticed the kit was being sold at EDay and that there are eBay sellers offering the kit because they have it in stock.

Yes, there are only 46 Indiegogo backers and an unknown number who pre-orderd the kit well over two years ago.

I did become the target of personal attacks and was suspended for being a troll. (No need to litigate that here.)

Some will take this post as bashing AMK. These are facts.

I appreciate your post since it was factual.

AMK has gone through trials and travails since 2015 to get this kit out. I applaud them for getting it made and I wish them great success with their endeavors. Competition's rough out there in the modeling world with so many manufacturers making the same subjects.

Mine, not yet. Of course I only made the preorder purchase a short while ago. I imagine there are a lot of orders ahead of me.

Solo, what type of shipping did you opt for that it cost more than the kit? Extra super fast? I purchased a kit at Hobbyeasy last week and used the small packet tracked shipping option. Cheap. It got from Hong Kong to me in Milwaukee WI USA in three days. That's including USPS shipping it 100 miles in the wrong direction after it passed through customs. That's pretty darn fast in my book. Hope the F-14D is as fast, but I think it might have been a fluke.

I have no idea. HobbyEasy asked me to confirm my credit card data few days ago and now I see they charged my on 388 HKD. I hope this is some kind of fast, air shipping.
When I ordered it 2,5 years ago, there was no shipping charges, because HE didn't know the weight of the package.

Well, this is ridiculous. 388HKD for shipment without tracking and on my own risk. 🙂

I made the order via surface with tracking, less expensive, of course more time to wait though.

This is not so big parcel I suppose, only two boxes, not a big deal.

I had a choice. Here's mine:

That's not quite $50 USD and quite ridiculous!

Obviously them aliens 👽 weren't any help and the kit wasn't fixed or released on time.
Turns out they can't manipulate time because they don't even understand the concept of time.

Having no concept of time (that and they don't eat or sleep), I figured they'd be perfect for casting parts (it's time consuming, repetitive and well, boring). I picked two and was escorting them out when the alarms started blasting and about a hundred armed MPs showed up :chain-gun:
Oh well, at least I got the shirt...

Back to the plastic

I've only glanced through the instructions (they seem hard on the eyes to me).
One thing builders should know is that they may want to skip using the upper bypass door supports (check your references).
I don't know why, but this strut was eliminated at some point. From what I've seen most F-14D models don't have it.

Bypass_strut_zps8900xwrp.jpg

Perhaps GW or one of the Tomcat experts could shed some light on this.

Regarding the instructions...
Looking at the views provided for the decal charts, it appears that these drawings may have either been generated from the kit CAD model or they are the drawings the CAD model was based on (hips ✔️ canopy ✔️  other ...).

More on that later, time permitting.
