Flankerman
It's finished - (there's a build thread somewhere - but the silly search engine won't let me find it).... I started building/converting it last April - but I got fed up with it - making too many silly mistakes - that I gave up on it. I have just (reluctantly) got round to finishing it - it is nowhere near as good as Haneto's work..... It isn't the best Flanker I have ever done - but here goes anyway..... This is the biggest part of the conversion - revised tailboom, extended rudders, TVC nozzles - and at the front, offset IRST, IFR probe, twin nosewheels... The decals are sourced from the 'spares' box - and various decal sheets, the bort number is made up from a white surround with slightly smaller black numbers. The biggest problem was the 'slime lights' - I painted a blank decal sheet pale yellow, then put on Tamiya tape masks the size of the finished lights, then painted black. Removing the masks revealed yellow rectangles with black surround - which were then carefully cut out. More finished photo - plus the build photos - here. Ken

Sauragnmon
So the Su-35 don't have the larger wings from the 33/34? Interesting to note. I would have thought they would have included that to alter the wing loading and make it turn a little harder in addition to the provision of the TVC nozzles. Absolutely Beautiful piece of work, Ken, just wicked to see her done up by one of the Masters at the Flanker.

Flankerman
So the Su-35 don't have the larger wings from the 33/34? Interesting to note. I would have thought they would have included that to alter the wing loading and make it turn a little harder in addition to the provision of the TVC nozzles. Absolutely Beautiful piece of work, Ken, just wicked to see her done up by one of the Masters at the Flanker. All Flankers have the same wing span - 14.7m* - EXCEPT the Su-27KUB - which is 16m All Flankers have the same wing area - 62.04m2 - EXCEPT the Su-27KUB (71.38m2) and Su-33 (67.84m2) The Su-27KUB wing is bigger in span and chord, but the Su-33 is only bigger in chord at the root - which accounts for the 5.8m2 increase. The Su-34 wing is the same size as all other 'normal' Flankers. *Note :- the published span for the new Su-35 is 15.3m - but I think that is on account of it being fitted with 'Sorbtsya' ESM pods Ken

zark
What can I say about Ken's work. It's not the first time and I am sure not the last time either that we see one more excellent Su. Most probably my next project is going to be the same aircraft but in 1/48 scale. I am thinking of using the "two in one shampoo"... model using the Aca one and the Mini hobby one. Since I tried that recipe before (...Su30Mkk, to much work to little time to many headaches and to many cigaretes) I really don't want to go through all that again. Does anyone knows if a new Su-35/37 kit in 1/48 is on the horizon and if yes when?...one month...one year...one lifetime...???
Berkut
Does anyone knows if a new Su-35/37 kit in 1/48 is on the horizon and if yes when?...one month...one year...one lifetime...??? My honest bet: Never. Unless someone will do a resin set.
