Question about MH-60L refuelling probestrikeeagle801 replied to TigreTech's topic in Helicopter Modeling You're the expert, having hands-on experience whereas I have none, but the main tube looks thicker and shorter than the one used on the Hawk, and since they are both in the retacted position, the internal tube is irrelevant. Question about MH-60L refuelling probestrikeeagle801 replied to TigreTech's topic in Helicopter Modeling I'm going to be attempting to scratch-build mine when I get to it, as it is almost impossible to eliminate the seams without losing detail. I am not aware of any A/M option (yet) for the whole boom, but Master and Flying Leathernecks both make an A/M nozzle. I just checked Reskit's website, and there are distinct differences between the two probes. I wouldn't advise using the CH-53 probe. Aaron

OOB 1/48 Hellcat (modeling is therapy)strikeeagle801 replied to FalconFan24's topic in In-Progress Pics We got a new manager here about 2 weeks ago. She's 9 weeks and 2 pounds of pure terror. I'm so used to Penny (the dog) not caring about what's on the table that I just leave parts where I finish them. Not any more. Now the only place that is safe is on top of the bookshelf that we store our DVD's on. The model looks great so far. Black basing and weathering is something I want to get into, I just don't really know where to begin. Aaron

I actually used them on some ordnance for a few different projects that I was working on. They had a mix of lacquer and acryl paints. I sprayed the gloss over the completely dried paint, let that dry for 48 hours, then placed my decals. After they dried, I sprayed Alclad Clear Flat directly over the decals. Aaron

Alclad is a lacquer, but as long as everything is good and dry, you shouldn't have any trouble covering your other paint and decals with it. I just started using Alclad clears myself, but I am very impressed with them. The gloss provides a strong, hard base for decals and weathering and the flat seals everything in well and dries dead-flat. Aaron

Just an FYI for those following along and thinking about doing an F-15E in the future. Steve is correct when he states that 90-0233 and later came with the PW-229's (and thus the heat exchanger scoops) from the factory. For earlier jets, you need to check your references, as some (and it is not as clear-cut as a certain tail number cutoff) have been upgraded to the -229's as well. I saw two 389th FS jets with 87 tail numbers that both had -229's at Beale this summer. Aaron

F-16D Block 42 MiG Killer // Kinetic // 1:48strikeeagle801 replied to Solo's topic in The Display Case It looks great! I think that I mentioned that I got to see this jet in person back in 2022. You did a fantastic job of making a mini version of what I remember it looking like. Aaron

I think the term lipstick on a pig comes to mind when it comes to the EX. I know that the Viper came out in the same era as the Eagle, but the Eagle is huge, and with the large, square intakes, the massive wings and the twin vertical stabs, there's just not much that you can do to make it stealthy. That is the reason the Silent Eagle never got off the ground. The EX's mission set is also different. As of right now, it is only being used by the Air Guard, for air defense missions. Stealth isn't really a priority there, and as the regular Air Force gets them at Kadena, they are goin
