  1. Lets see if I can get this to work <a href='https://postimages.org/' target='_blank'><img src='https://s20.postimg.cc/xu7ddspnx/pwa1380284157.jpg' border='0' alt='pwa1380284157'/></a>
  2. Had mine shipped straight from Japan and received it Feb 27th. Same as their F-4C except for the inclusion of Sprue ' L' which contains the F-4D specific parts. There is a different instrument coaming, it looks like the rear panel is different and the fairing under the nose depicts the most common style found on the 'D' with the APR-26 RHAW antenna hump at the rear of the housing. The later version from the mid 1980's ( with the " zits " ) is not included which is quite surprising and disappointing. Also received their new SWS48-04-D03 1/48th F-4J/S VMFA-235 Decal Sheet. It s
  3. Good question Gene, however, the picture on the HK Facebook page actually shows a Luftwaffe F-4F and not an F-4E. After posting pictures showing both a head-on view of an F-4F and an FGR.2, HK's last post on their FB page reads "I believe you could noticed these are very similar in shape, but they are almost completely differences. both are classic and beautiful. That will be nice to have them on shelf." To me, using the word " them " indicates they have plans to produce kits of both the FGR.2 and the F-4F. And since it appears they only post photos of subjects they intend to produce, does
  4. The decal sheet in that Revell kit provides markings for F-102A 56-1264 which means it has the Case X wing. The easiest way to remember this...............Case X wings were found on serial numbers 53-1790 thru 56-1316 while serial numbers 56-1317 thru 57-0909 had the Case XX wings. Hope this helps. Oz
  5. SEA based F-4E's from the 388TFW (JJ and JV codes) and the 366TFW (LA and LC codes) routinely flew missions with MER's on the outboard pylons. I took a quick look through my USAF F-4E slide collection and I stopped looking after finding 22 images that showed this configuration on SEA based aircraft. I've also seen plenty of images published in F-4 Phantom books that confirm the MER/outer pylon set-up. Oz
  6. Deke, The name 'Memphis Belle II' and the pilots name Maj.Buddy Jones were both applied in black on a yellow background. I have an original Kodachrome slide in my THUD collection that shows her ( full left side profile) pulling out of her revetment at Takhli RTAB in April 1970. The red on yellow theory is inaccurate but I do recall seeing a small photo published in one of the F-105 books that would lead someone to reach that conclusion. The picture suffered from severe colour manipulation but since I have an original slide of the same image, there's no doubt that black on yellow is the acc
  7. Thanks Pete, I should of checked more than one source. I dug out another list showing F-4E to F-4G conversions that was published in 2004 and 69-0291 is shown on that one. It shows the aircraft was converted to an F-4G on April 16th 1990 as an attrition replacement aircraft. The aircraft was then assigned to the 3TFW at Clark AFB and finally ending life as a Gate Guardian at Osan. I did a little more digging and discovered that Aeromaster already produced decals for this aircraft as an F-4G with the 3TFW. Also, Afterburner produced a sheet 48-068 for F-4E/F-4G 3rd TFW with 69-0291 include
  8. Whiskey said: 1) where is its Mig kill stencil? 2) the last place I could trace this bird to was with the 3rd TFW during its tenure at Clark AFB. From what I've gathered is after the 3rd was disbanded most of the F-4s they had where sent CONUS to become drones. 3) this a/c in the picture is out of Spangdahlem and has numerous kill markings most likely attributed to the Gulf War, and 0291 that I've found did not participate but I could be wrong. Could anyone else share some enlightens on this? Whiskey, F-4E 69-0291 was never converted to an F-4G. As has already been indicated, the pi
  9. Well, since the lone decal option included in the kit is for an F-4N version and not a 'B', I would hope there's " enough stuff " in the box to make the 'N' version. However, if you're interested in using the VF-111 markings included with the kit, I'd be inclined to wait for the forthcoming Vagabond Decals VF-111 sheet which I know is going to be a beauty. Judging by the side view photograph of the completed model on the kit box, the sharkmouth nose decal they have used is to large and most definitely comes up far to high on the nose . But, I guess it's possible that Academy might of correc
  10. I trust you're only referring to every other 1/48th scale Phantom kit ever made? After all, we all know that the Tamiya 32nd scale F-4 kits have these struts included. Oz
  11. Mike said: < I've got the store reconfigured to use first class postage, as well > Mike, I just tried to order the decal sheet again and there is NO OPTION available for FIRST CLASS POSTAGE to Canada. The four options shown still all indicate PRIORITY MAIL only and the cheapest rate is still $11.95 Oz
  12. You guys are charging $11.95US postage for one sheet mailed to Canada??????? Is that correct? Will the sheet eventually be available through Sprue Brothers which I'm sure would be a more cost effective way for Canucks to obtain the sheet? Great sheet boys. Oz
  13. Which Hobby Shop in Toronto is selling these? Oz
  14. Dmitri, I'm very pleased to see that you have decided to offer a corrected nose for the Monogram 1/48th kit. However, if the photos you've posted here depict your final product, I'm afraid the shape you've arrived at is inaccurate for an F-105D nose ( It actually looks more like a 'B' nose ). The profile on the top of the 'D' nose does not drop off anywhere near as abrupt as you have it depicted. I hope you will take the time to re-examine the shape outline as IMHO, it makes no sense to release a replacement nose that is less accurate in outline than the already inaccurate kit nose. The a
  15. Tony, What are your references that show these? I've never seen any images that show an operational THUD with static dischargers. I would never say NEVER to this question but it would be nice to know if these references you have show an operational aircraft or a test bird. Look forward to your response. Ozzie
  16. 'Jon, I just checked my A-7 slides and "Capt. Eddie" was definitely 73-0999 (marked as 73-999). 70-0999 (marked as 70-999) also served with the Ohio ANG but she flew with the other Ohio unit, the 180TFG. Did someone produce decals for "Capt Eddie"? Oz
  17. You are correct. Here are two images showing the curved black nose mkgs. The image of 155876 was taken at NAS North Island on 17 May 1975 and 155881 was taken at Miramar in March 1975. I agree that it's a very attractive scheme. Ozzie F-4J 155876 NH_111 VF-213 F-4J 155881 NH_105 VF-213

  20. Even though the vast majority of photos indicate that the Blue Angel F-4J’s had the F-4B style exhaust fitted, it was only the early block 26 & 27 F-4J's that had these shorter exhausts. I took a quick look through my F-4J slide collection and I could only find two images of Blue Angel F-4J’s with the longer exhaust cone typically found on the F-4J. Specifically, they were bureau number 153876 Block 32 Blue Angel #5 and 153839 Block 31 Blue Angel #4, so there were at least two Blue Angel F-4J's with the longer exhaust. Both of these images were taken at the same airshow in May 1973 an
  21. Tony, The decals do indicate that markings for a 'TH' Carswell based F-105D will be included on the sheet. Since the aircraft in question is F-105D 60-0521, that must mean that parts for a T-Stick modified D will be included in the kit. After all, 60-0521 received the T-Stick upgrade long before she was transferred to the 301TFW. I have images of her as a T-Stick with the 23TFW with 'MF' codes taken in 1970 and my earliest images of her with 'TH' codes were taken in 1973. If HobbyBoss don't include the parts then that means they've screwed up the mkgs. The other markings on the sheet are
  22. Very nice paint application Jon. Which brand of paint did you use to represent this scheme? Cheers, Oz
  23. The actual serial number for this F-105G is 62-4428. Her final tour of duty was with the Georgia ANG and she was retired to MASDC for storage on 3 Jan 1983. She was removed from storage on 5 Dec 1984 and sent to RAF Upper Heyford to be used for ABDR training. Sometime in May 1985, she was transferred to the 48TFW at RAF Lakenheath where she continued her role as a battle damage repair trainer. At some point, she was returned to Upper Heyford where she became a POW/MIA display. According to the British Aviation Review, after the USAF left Upper Heyford, the airframe was sent to RAF Crought
