  1. Very, very nice! Always liked the Hueys, and you did this one proud! Thanks for posting. DET1460
  2. Dude, Your stuff gets better and better all the time! I have suggestions, but I know you want to stay away from sheets of all one subject, so I'll bite the bullet and patiently wait... But a big THANKS, in the meantime! Congrats on the centennial sheet! Don't stop now! DET1460
  3. Sweet! I have two of these and I hope they come out as nice. Thanks for the pictures. DET1460
  4. I've wanted one of these ever since the 72nd Italeri kit. But I resigned myself to waiting for the Kittuhawk due to the dismal (IMHO) record of TrumpyBoss quality. Their armor is usually very nice, but I think the guys who design the acft. kits have too much local wine at work. Or, maybe some Cambodian Red... Is anyone really surprised this kit has rather glaring errors in it? I have to say, I'm not,,, JMO DET1460
  5. The serial on the tail should read.... 0-21500... The ZERO has been half painted over. A ZERO in front of the serial was used at one time to denote the aircraft was over ten years old. It didn't stand for 'OBSOLETE' as some may think. Hope this helps. DET1460
  6. The dull silver finish on early KC's was called Corrogard. It was the precursor to ADC gray. They were in that color into the early 70's. DET1460
  7. Very, Very nice "F"! You took a so-so kit and really made it shine! Thank you for sharing this. I can't see enough 111's! Well done. DET1460
  8. Hi Mark Checking your page daily! Chomping at the bit for a couple of sheets of 093, with the 66's and 135's. HURRY PLEASE! I can't sleep... (But I'm eating ok, so, don't worry!) DET1460
  9. Gotta add my 2 cents... Early Nellis and Cannon AFB's F-111's, especially the A's with the colored chevrons on the tails. Thanks DET1460
  10. The newer Hasy F-4EJ/Kai is the Vietnam hard wing F-4E with an extra sprue with the parts to modify the kit to a "Kai". I have two releases of the kit Nos. 00638 and E 37 (01567). I've seen many who believe a hard winged E cannot be made from these kits, but the two kits mentioned above prove that to be incorrect. As I stated, these are hard winged E's with EXTRA parts for the Kai. So, if you find one and want to build a VN E model, get it because it will work! I hope this helps you out. DET1460
  11. I posted this info in another thread, but I'll mention it here. The Fujimi kit has the trailing edge of the wings (In front of the flap hinge) molded for the flaps to be retracted only. The Hasegawa has the same areas molded to have the flaps deployed only. What are apparently spoilers will hinge downward on flap deployment, shown on the Hasegawa kit, not on the Fujimi. It's a small thing, but it's there. I have both kits in front of me right now, and the difference is obvious. I hope this helps out. DET1460
  12. Very nice! Great detail, paint and weathering. I had to look at the title again to be sure you said it was 72 scale! Well done! DET1460
  13. It is my understanding that the wing tips, in flight, could flex as much as 15 feet from a neutral position, up or down. The fuselage was also flexible if you look closely at the wrinkled skin, especially looking down along the sides. Boeing made it that way. They knew how to make BIG aircraft! DET1460

    F-111?

Hasegawa did their homework when they made these kits. It isn't just the splitter plate on the intakes. The lower fuselages are different. On the real acft. the non splitter, or triple plow II acft. had the intakes literally moved out away from the fuselage by, I believe, four inches, making the lower fuselage wider. You can use an A, C or EF lower fuselage to get it correct. If you have a C you can use the lower fuselage on your E to make an A, and use the lower E fuselage on the C and make an "almost" FB. The fairing between the exhaust nozzles is different on the FB, but its not all that no
  15. Well done and a great theme! Looks like a nice kit as well. But, I have to question the stealthiness of it with all those antennae! Even the OLD SR-71 had antennae that folded into the fuselage for less radar detection. Maybe I'm missing something... But, nice build and presentation. DET1460
  16. Yes they're spoilers on the 14 as well. But when the flaps are deployed they lower to streamline the air over the flaps. Compare the two kits upper wings and you'll see what I mean. As I said, in 72 it's not that noticeable. DET1460
  17. Very nice MiGs! Always liked the 21. especially when it's so well done! Bravo! DET1460
  18. WOW!!! I don't know what I can add to what's already been said! Oh ya... Perfect, comes to mind! Well done! DET1460
  19. Hey Guys... This info is just for the rivet counters, and I'm not one of them. The upper wings on the Fujimi and Hasy 72 Tomcats are molded specifically with extended or retracted flaps and slats in mind. Not too noticeable in 72 (But we ARE talking rivet counters, aren't we!)There are panels on the upper wing in front of the flap hinge that lower into the wing to streamline the extended flaps. The Fujimi kit has these panels flat, for normal flight, retracted flaps and slats. The Hasy kit molded these down for extended flaps. So, if you're a 'counter', you'll need the Hasy kit to model extend
  20. Thanks for this thread. I have the kit and a few sets of Mass Air Guard markings from Bare Metal. I got the same markings for the Trump 48th B. Again, thanks. Great idea and appreciate it very much! Looking forward to more... DET1460
  21. I'd like in on this. Though my expectations may be too optimistic, I'd like to add a 48th RB-57E, RF-4C and a 72nd RC-135S. Sounds like a fun build! DET1460
  22. I built this a few years ago. If I remember correctly it has some fit issues, but I found that using sanding sticks carefully I managed to get a good fit. You DO have to bring the bucket to very thin, translucent standards. Hey... Its modeling! Sometimes you have to work a little, but you'll find it will work out, and it looks great. Don't sweat it. It's not that bad, and the results are worth it. Just remember. Sand/Fit, repeat... Hope this helps you out. DET1460
  23. You mean, besides the completely wrong shape and dimensions? Sorry to have to tell you, but the Trump T 38 is one of their worst at an accurate miniature of a REAL aircraft. Relegate it to the 'could have been' pile and get the Wolfpack kit. Your friend will thank you. (And I was a crewchief on T 38's in '69. It's one of my favorite planes...) DET1460
  24. As far as The lone Ranger goes, Clayton Moore was the most popular of the "screen" rangers, and in the very first episode he'd been jumped by villains and left for dead. The great Jay Siverheels (AKA Tonto) found him and nursed him back to health, where a disguise was suggested so (I guess) the villains couldn't identify him. But, Clayton was "maskless" in the first episode. Yup. I didn't waste my childhood. I was glued to the TV on Saturday mornings in the early-mid fifties. 25. Getting back on topic, and this should come as NO surprise, but I'd go anywhere, anytime and in any weather in an F-111. 4,049 Vietnam missions with 6 losses, with no tankers, early warning, MiGCap, defense suppression or ECM support. And they were 'A' models! At the SALT talks, year after year, the Russians DEMANDED the removal of ALL 111's from the European theater. They knew what they were capable of, and that says it ALL to me! Shall we talk about Desert Storm?..... DET1460
