  1. Improving Hasegawa 1:48 Tomcat – 00: General considerations I am a proud rivet counter distinctly affected by Advanced Modeler Syndrome (AMS). At 57, I am chronic. Given that AMS is not a life threatening disease, I refuse every therapy, keeping digging deeper into this hobby in the utmost contempt for the “out of the box” approach. So far, I refused from posting my work here or on any other forum. Doing that requires additional time and challenging abilities, like photography. In addition, English is not my mother language. In other words, this is going to be my first In-Prog
  2. 1/48 F/A-18 C/D parts wanted. (seats, wheels, nozzles, target pods) ANY KIT is ok 🙂 I can also use seats from the F-14D - F-15E Have 1/48 parts and decals to trade! See pics, will trade in your favor. I have a F/A-18 Testors Kit I'm building as a D model. Just would like to update the seats/wheels/nozzles/targeting pods/jdams. Let's work something out!
  3. Hi, this is my second Fine Molds Tomcat in 1/72. I have decided to represent an aircraft from IRIAF with wing, leading egde, flap, spoilers and aerobrake open. I have used Hasegawa wings (with some modification to represent the spoilers) and Fujimi pilots. Decals are from Print Scale (and some from Linden Hill). Sparrow and Sidewinder from Eduard. The colors are a huge mix of several Gunze reference (with a lot of trying). I have try to represent the correct camo from 3-6039 (according to a video and some picture from the same day as the video). Most of the camouflage has no blur e
  4. I have following aftermarket and packages for sale. Payment by Paypal preferred. (Personal check also accepted but shipment will be delayed until the check clears.) Prefer to conduct transactions with CONUS, but will perform conduct transactions outside US if buyer is prepared for high cost of postage. Postage to be determined, but I'm using primarily FLAT RATE Priority Mail Boxes for ease of use. I can obtain individual postage quotes which may or may not cost less, but be prepared for a few days delay. Please PM me if you are interested. Please let me know if you are located in the US
  5. Hi all, I am starting a new build - Tamiya 1/48 F-14D Tomcat VF-2, BuNo 163894. What I am planning to use for this build: Tamiya 1/48 Grumman F-14D Tomcat Eduard Brassin 1/48 F-14D Cockpit Eduard Brassin 1/48 F-14D Wheels Eduard Brassin 1/48 AN/AAQ-13 LANTIRN pod Eduard Brassin 1/48 AIM-9M/L Sidewinder Eduard Brassin 1/48 GBU-12 Eduard Brassin 1/48 GBU-16 Kasl 1/48 F-14D Exhausts Master 1/48 F-14 Pitot & AOA SAC 1/48 Grumman F-14 Tomcat Landing Gear Fightertown Decals Grumman Tom
  6. I really prefer to keep these in CONUS. Paypal preferred (friends and family works best, and if you have money in the paypal or an attached bank account there is no fee for either of us) but USPS MO works too. PM if interested. I really want to avoid EBAY and I'm trying to price these to move, but Ive also been out of the model buying game for sometime (SWMBO, KIDS, life etc) Ebay is getting insane, I prefer to sell them here. I have much much better experiences here on ARC anyway, and its a true blessing. lastly like everything the price of shipping has gone up. I am as unhappy a
  7. This is more a personal curiosity question for any of the Tomcat experts out there. I'm working on a 1/72 Academy F-14A in VF-84 markings for an eventual diorama of the Tomcat/Zero dogfight scene in The Final Countdown. I've been over the film footage more than is reasonable for a sane person and I noticed that the F-14's have mismatched Sidewinders loaded. AJ202 has an older Sidewinder (probably AIM-9H) on Station 1A (it's got a dark metallic seeker head with the smaller swept single delta canards) and a newer 'Winder (I'm guessing AIM-9L, grey seeker with larger double delta canards) on Stat
  8. Hi all! Here is my latest completed project, the Hasegawa F-14B Tomcat of VF-103 Jolly Rogers aboard the USS Dwight D Eisenhower in 1998. This project is the only one I have ever started that I did not finish straight through. I finished the cockpit put then put the build on hold as a deadline for an IPMS club contest approached, so I moved on to another project that fit into the theme of that contest. It stayed on hold for over a year before I decided to go back to it as part of an F-14 Group Build on Scalemates. As you know, this is the notorious Hasegawa Tomcat.
  9. I have following F-14 items for sale. Payment by Paypal preferred. (Personal check also accepted but shipment will be delayed until the check clears.) Prefer to conduct transactions with CONUS, but will perform conduct transactions outside US if buyer is prepared for high cost of postage. Postage to be determined by buyer's speed-of-delivery preference. FREE POSTAGE IN US FOR DECALS IF 3 OR MORE SHEETS PURCHASED. Please PM me if you are interested. Please let me know if you are located in the US and if you are paying by PayPal. I am open to offers if you want to combine mult
  10. Hi All, Here are two more completed illustrations. Illustration 1 depicts a F-14A from VF-1, which shot down an Iraqi Mi-8 during Op.Desert Storm. Illustration 2 depicts a F-14A from VF-41, which shot down a Libyan Su-22. More work of mine can be found here:PRESS
  11. I need your help. I remember a thread about the three different styles of Tomcat main wheels but I cannot locate it despite having searched through all F-14 threads since last fall. Last weekend I tried modifying a set of Tamiya main wheels with half of the white metal hubs from a Hasegawa F-14, but now I have my doubts as to whether or not I used the correct wheel hubs. Can someone help me out here? Thanks in advance, Jens
  12. Hi! So I have bit of a weird question regarding to Tomcats canopy... See I have a Hasegawa F-14A kit at home and when I checked the construction plan I noticed something rather weird with the canopy: The Canopy is kinda "double Bubble" shaped with the RIOs part of the canopy getting higher in its own weird bubble canopy: Now this ofc probably is some weird error in the plan but it kinda made me a bit restless so I looked at a bunch of Plans of the Tomcat online and in books and I also tried real life pictures but I didn't come to a c
  13. Here are some more completed illustrations, this time F-14A's from VF-111. More work of mine can be found here:PRESS
  14. Okay it seems that starting a topic like this inevitably gets Zactoman going so here goes: How long do we have to wait for correctly shaped INTAKES for the Trumpeter 1/32 F-14? Hey, it worked for Rafael Winter with the Flanker. Seriously, I'll buy you the donor kit plus guarantee at least my order plus pay whatever else you want if you'll take this one on.
  15. No, not a new song title, but trying to determine what shade of blue was used on the VF-143 F-14As in the light gull gray over white era. I have the Furball Decals, and they specify Insignia Blue for the tops of the tailfins (that must be painted), but that will not match the blue trim of the tailfins and the three stripes on the forward fuselage. Looking at photos on the web, the blue is definitely lighter than the dark blue of the insignia. The hue varies with the photos too - in one photo it definitely has a hint of red in it which I can find no FS match for. In others it looks less ric
  16. Dear Fellow Modellers There maybe a thread you can direct me too, but what is the consensus on who makes the most attractive F-14 Tomcat in 1/72. I think I last made one from Airfix in the early 1970s (oops) Thanks Andrew
  17. Hi, Someting is hanging from the rear of the F-14 strakes. I have no good pics to understand what. Can you help ?
  18. I recently got this kit as a started one that was missing pieces. I was able to go thru my spares and find all I needed except the following: A10 (intake-see picture) MA #1,2,7,9,10 (PE fret-see picture) I'll be happy to take them used, painted, whatever you got and will pay for your time and parts. Thanks a bunch! Later, Lee
  19. The F-14 Tomcat and the F-15 dominated the skies for an extended period of time. There are a lot of Aircraft to build, but there is something very special about fabricating a Custom Aircraft Model made from your bare hands. Scratch built Airplane Models are a fading skillset that we should continue to preserve. This particular model was built by a Model company called modelworks One of the challenging components of Fabricating models is maintaining the proportions, slope and contours. It take a trained eye to build a model the right way. Has anybody build a large Fighter Je

  21. Hey all, Looking for Fightertown Decals VF-213 "Last Roar" in 1/48...anyone have one out there at a fair price?
  22. Hi all! Here is my latest completed project, the Hasegawa F-14A Tomcat in NSAWC "Flanker" adversary scheme, NAS Fallon 1999. As you know, this is the notorious Hasegawa Tomcat. This is my second one, and I learned quite a bit from my first try. I deviated from the directions in three key places: 1. Intake Assembly 2. Fuselage Join 3. Beaver Tail Attachment Basically what I did was to install the intake trunking BEFORE putting the inner ducting in. This allowed me to get a fantastic join of the intake trunking, which gave me fits
  23. I'm doing Vandy One from VX-4 using the Fightertown Decals sheet #48058 for Test/Eval/Adversary. The diagrams are not complete for the black F-14s, and I need to know if the A-model in particular had NO STEP and other stencils on the upper surfaces. I haven't found a photo yet, so I'm hoping someone here knows the answer. Thanks!
  24. Looking for 1/32 accessories for my tamiya tomcat. Specifically the G-factor landing gear set and a tarps pod.
  25. I was browsing the web and found this image of the VF-84 on Cloud9 (http://www.cloud9photography.us/keyword/VF84 pictures / i-hcLfMLT / A). I've never seen a Jolly with a tan and white nose. The edge of the glass is gray, not black. I did not find any other image with that white stripe on the nose. And I would like to know BuNo of this bird! Can someone help me?
