  1. Don't forget that the Kitty Hawk 1/35 AH/MH-6J and AH/MH-6M both have complete engines as well. Floyd
  2. Don't forget WWDecals 48-16 UH-1D/H-Vietnam and Beyond. Plenty of good Vietnam era schemes
  3. Build for you. Noone else. No contest, no Facebook likes. Build what you like, how you like it. Try to learn something new each build but above all, Remember- Modeling is fun!
  4. That's why I love flying for the AAHF. I get to fly Cobras like Vietnam, okay not exactly, but we do get to do diving flight and wing overs. So much more fun than sneeking around in the trees and hovering Floyd
  5. Oh yes I fly a lot. Cobras and Hueys for the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation (AAHF). This is me flying the Cobra onto the Mall in DC for the 250th birthday of the US Army. So yeah I still have fun flying. Floyd
  6. Yeah, it was flight school (84-85) TH-55 to UH-1H for instruments and finally scout track in the OH-58A/C with the Cobra transition immediately afterwards, then Germany (85-88) where I flew OH-58A/C because they needed scout pilots and not Cobra guys. I flew scouts for two years, then finally got into Cobras. Ft Hood (88-91), Desert Storm Maintenance Officer/Test Pilot and then Korea (92). Mid-tour came back and took the wife to see the assignment manager. I did not want to do Ft Hood and return to Korea. Assignment manager wanted me to take the Apache transition, but said come back tomor
  7. AMAZING! Never thought that someone would have the 'official' paint scheme for this. Thanks for sharing. Thanks Floyd
  8. The 334th was the first unit to get the Cobra, besides the NETT team. I’ve never noticed the lack of FM antenna on the tailboom on the early aircraft until now. Great research. Floyd
  9. I can tell you for certain to leave the side lights and use part B26. Only the very first Cobras had the single taillight set up. It was replaced very early on with the two lights. Bearcat 15 was a very early aircraft and used in testing. I would almost bet that all but maybe the early NETT Cobras initially assigned to Vietnam had the dual lights. Floyd
  10. I only know that when I went through flight school in 1984/85 all the cockpits at Ft Rucker were flat black inside. I flew AH-1S(Prod)/ AH-1P and AH-1S(FMC)/ AH-1F, but I have pics from that timeframe of AH-1S(ECAS)/ AH-1E that also had flat black. So sometime before 1984. I'm not aware of any AH-1G having flat black interior, other than the instrument panel. Doesn't mean they couldn't have them, but I doubt it. I think the changed happened in the AH-1S(Mod)/ AH-1S as I've seen both variations in that version. I don't think that the AH-1Q had flat black cockpit. I believe it still had
  11. I still remember my first time in the TH-55. I can't say I flew it more like tried to crash it multiple ways and my IP always saved my bacon. He made it look easy and flew it with just one finger on the cyclic and one on the collective. Me on the other hand had a death grip on all the controls. It was a joy to fly once I got the hang of it. Took my bi-annual flight review in one a few years ago and it was awesome. Floyd
  12. I sit corrected. It wasn't used in Vietnam then. LOL Obviously it was used later in the life. Not sure when it was changed over. Love the pics though. Learned something new today Thanks Floyd
